From Our Trees to Your Cup
Premium Specialty Coffee with a Story

Our History
Meet the Leahy's, the late Johannes Leahy, and his son James Leahy. Coffee has been in our family for three generations. James's grandparents were pioneers and prospectors in search of gold in 1936. Their search led them to the lush Nebilyer valley - perfect for growing Green Gold...coffee.
In a historically war-torn community, our factory and farmland represent so much more than an amazing cup of coffee. They provide tangible support and hope for our people impacted by generational Tribal fighting.
Our family's coffee farm is strewn between the traditional warring tribes of the Ulga and Kulga, a land once known as no man's land, used to fight battles is now a neutral haven for all people to come together to work, rebuild, and move forward. This was the dream of Joe Leahy, my father.
Our Coffee
Papua New Guinea's Arabica coffee is found throughout the mountains and valley's of the Western Highlands region. This unique collection of rich coffee is ethically sourced from selected smallholder farms and farmers giving the coffee diverse taste profiles from each region. The pristine and rich volcanic soils are situated 1,200 to 1,700 meters above sea level. The steady seasonal rainfall from spring-fed creeks and mild to moderate tropical temperatures create a perfect environment for coffee to flourish - giving you a bounty of coffees to enjoy at any time of day and season.

Farming Practices
By understanding how to use century-old traditional farming practices like composting, soil & grass bedding for aeration, and proper water drainage, we simply aim to work with our environment and not against it. We maintain a harmonious relationship with our land because our approach is founded on respect. Our commitment and esteem for the land and community can be tasted in each cup of espresso, plunger, pour-over, or milk-based cup of coffee.
Your Impact
When you drink our coffee, you directly contribute towards providing jobs, building markets, supplying clean water, educating our children through supporting the local schools and so much more! We invite you into Tribal Coffee's family where every sip has a story.
Why do we do this? The answer is simple.
This is Our Mountain, Our Valley, Our People and Our Home.
